New and Trendy Things to Do in Chicago

Summertime in Chicago is amazing—the sun is out, everyone’s happy and active, and there are lots of fun and new things to do for the season. Between dining, recreational sporting, art, and fitness, there are several fun, interesting ways to experience Chicago and be one of the first to check the attractions out.

Not sure what’s going on in the big city? Here are upcoming Chicago activities you don’t want to miss out on this summer.

The Brick Bar

Take a trip back to the past and get in touch with your inner child, as the Brick Bar is coming to Chicago in August, this summer.

A pop-up event, it will feature over 1 million blocks. There will be sculptures made from building blocks as well as blocks that people can use to make their own creations on site. Plus, there’s a DJ, so you can rock out to great music while channeling your artistic prowess.

A Chicago Walking Bar Tour

Chicago Detours gave their famous tour a makeover, with the Historic Chicago Walking Bar Tour, which now gives you entry into a historic Gilded age mansion that’s currently Lawry’s restaurant. Enjoy the pub crawl tour to see rich architecture and get some booze and bites. Now, guests can learn of interesting facts from the past that make up the outside of Lawry’s building. On this new tour, you’ll get a drink and house-made potato chips with Lawry’s famous seasoning.

Figures of Speech Exhibit

At the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, this exhibit, Figures of Speech, is brand new and will run all summer long from June 10 to Sept. 22. If you love fashion, this is the place to be. It features the work of Virgil Abloh, a multi-genre artist, architect, DJ, and Chicago native. Plus, he was Kanye West’s partner on various projects, like designing album covers and creating merchandise products. In fact, he launched his own fashion brand Off-White to showcase his talents. This is the first museum exhibition devoted to his creativity and art, so get tickets and check it out this summer.
