5 Fun Things To Do At Millennium Park This Summer

There’s no denying it: Summer in Chicago is beautiful, and there’s no better way to spend a warm day than in Millennium Park. Not only is it a great spot for dining, tourism, art and culture, and nature, but also it’s abundant in enjoyable activities, for all age groups. You might already know the renowned “Chicago Bean” selfie, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Here are 5 things to do at Millennium Park in Chicago this summer.

See Performances At The Summer Music Series

There’s no shortage of great beats and sounds this summer in Millennium Park. Every year, Chicago offers the Summer Music Series in Millennium Park, where Chicagoans and tourists, alike, can pack a picnic, get cozy, and listen to some tunes. With diverse genres, from opera, folk, and jazz, to Latin and hip-hop, there’s something for everyone. Luckily, you can experience these different sounds on Monday and Thursday evenings, at 6:30pm, throughout the summer.

Explore The Scenery At Lurie Garden

When the flowers pop up around Chicago, the city is absolutely breathtaking. And for a vast, open recreational space that offers tranquility and ascetic pleasure, look no further than Lurie Garden in Millennium Park. Whether you want to take a few photos with loved ones, smell the summer’s newest flowers, or attend a guided walking tour (available Thursday, Friday, and Sunday), you’ll get a rich sense of architectural, garden design and plant life, as well as a breath of fresh air, to restore the body.

Take In A Film

Right at The Pritzker Pavilion in Millennium Park in Chicago, Tuesday evenings, this summer, won’t disappoint. Extending from June 13th through September 5th, Millennium Park’s summer film series will provide cinematic experiences out in the open air and warmth. So, set up our chairs or blanket, sit back, and transport yourself to a different reality. This summer you can expect new flicks like La La Land and Hidden Figures, as well as some oldies and classics, like Wayne’s World and Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.

Splash Around In The Crown Fountain

A 50-foot high tower, the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park displays real life faces that spout water—creating a fun experience for kids, especially. Not only is this a great way to take in Chicago’s rich diversity, culture, and beauty, but it’s also a terrific way to cool down on a hot, summer day. There’s nothing quite as refreshing as a dip in the water amidst a crowd of energetic, smiling people. Plus, it makes for a memorable photo op!

Dine At Taste Of Chicago

This year, Taste of Chicago at Grant Park will seriously whet your appetite. Over July 5-9th, this festival brings in locals and tourists, alike, to experience Chicago’s food culture and listen to musical entertainment. As a guest, you’ll get to taste Chicago’s greatest offerings, from classic staples, like deep dish pizza and hot dogs, to specialty drinks and treats, like cheesecake pops, donuts, and hearty tacos.
