Student-Friendly Activities and Deals in Chicago

Chicago is a great city for all ages to visit. Whether you’ve been before or not, with the amount of activities available, you’ll never check off everything from your bucket list, but it sure is fun to try! Students are especially well placed to take on the challenge, with discounts being offered at several of the hottest attractions in the city. To make your busy life easier, we’ve gathered a list of some of the best student-friendly activities and deals in Chicago.

Museums

Chicago is known for world-class museums, and with so many to choose from, you’re sure to find one that meets your interests. Whether it’s for a research paper, a date night, or a great way to get to know the area, they are fun to visit over and over again. A few of the best that offer student discounts include the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, Museum of Science and Industry, and the Art Institute of Chicago. Great for all ages, these attractions are must-sees on any visit to the Windy City. As an added bonus, many of these buildings are on the Lakefront Museum Campus, making the journey from each location short and beautiful. No matter how old the student is, utilizing these discounts is a must.

Architecture

From Willis Tower to Trump Tower and everything in between, there are so many iconic structures in Chicago. A great way to see the stunning buildings throughout the city is by taking a Wendella boat architecture tour. Students can get 50% off with their ID, punching their ticket to cruise the Chicago River while learning all about Chicago’s rich and beautiful history.

Another spot that allows visitors to take a step into the architectural scene of the city without leaving dry ground is the Chicago Architecture Center. Located just off DuSable Bridge and in the heart of downtown, students can save while viewing a model of the city. The Chicago Skyline is world-renowned, and taking the time to interact with the buildings that make it up is a great way to get to know the city (while saving a few bucks).

Live Music

Classical or Contemporary, the Windy City is a hub of music for all ages to enjoy. Luckily for students, they are able to tap their toes for a discount. The Chicago Symphony, Blue Man Group, and The Second City Theatre all offer specials for students to take advantage of. Even Chicago Broadway shows have student discounts with stipulations. There is no shortage of concerts to attend, and they make for lifetime memories each time you attend.

Experiences

Being one of the biggest cities in the country has its perks. There are so many different ways to enjoy the environment, especially for thrill seekers. One of the newest attractions is called FlyOver, which creates an immersive way for riders to “fly” over the city while experiencing the sounds and smells that accompany the journey. The story is built to showcase all that the city has to offer in a unique way you won’t find anywhere else, and at a student discount.

Sports are a popular experience, especially in Chicago where we have some of the most historic teams and stadiums in the nation. Both the Blackhawks and the Cubs often offer discounted tickets to students, allowing fans of all ages to fill the stands. Experiencing the electric energy of the city is one way to ensure that your trip is a success each time you visit.
